How to add The Pardot tracking code on your site.

Imagine you are SalesforceJandJ’s marketing manager and you have been hired to implement Pardot for this company. Pardot is a B2B marketing automation tool that aims to align sales and marketing by helping marketers to nurture and warm up sales leads.

One of the first tasks to do when you implement Pardot is to give to marketers the ability to track visitors of your site via Pardot..

To do this, you must add the Pardot tracking code on your site. We will see how to do this in the next 2 steps:

1) Access your Pardot tracking code

2) Add your Pardot tracking code on your site

Access your Pardot tracking code

After logging in to Pardot :

a) Click on the Pardot Campaigns tab.

b) Select the Website Tracking campaign.

c) Then Click View Tracking Code to access the unique Pardot tracking code for your website.

d) And you will see the code as below

In your website, paste the tracking code before the close body tag (</body>).

Now let’s take a look at how you should add your Pardot tracking code in all your site after you have logged in to the WordPress site configuration page for example.

Add your Pardot tracking code on your site

First, you need to install and activate the plugin “Head, Footer and Post Injections. You can do this from your WordPress dashboard by going to Plugins and selecting Add New and searching for it as shown in the screenshot below:

Once you have activated the plugin, you can display its interface by going to Settings and selecting Header and Footer in your WordPress dashboard. You will see a few tabs in the plugin interface. But in your case, you will be working in the default Header and Footer tab:

Paste the code as per the screenshot below:

And that’s it, well done! You have just added the Pardot tracking code to your site.
